Day 4
Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.
Joshua 1:9
Have you ever been afraid? OK, that's a no-brainer. We have all been afraid of someone or something in our lives. And for good reason.
Take Joshua's story, for instance. After wandering around in the desert for 40 years, the Israelites were ready to claim a new homeland. There was a problem, however: the land they were about to enter were full of people bigger, stronger, and more wicked than the Israelites. People who did not want the Israelites to share their land and would put up a strong fight.
And Joshua was commanded by God to lead the Israelites into battle against their fearsome enemies! Furthermore, God tells Joshua to be strong and courageous. Why? Because "the Lord your God will be with you."
Whenever you are afraid, remember that your God, who is bigger and stronger than your fear, is with you.
Lord, You alone are all-powerful. You are in control. When I am afraid, let Your Holy Spirit calm me. In Jesus' Name, Amen.
