Case Study Of A Good Church

What does a good church look like? Here is what you should look for when choosing a place of worship:

  • Solid Bible teaching from both the pulpit and the classroom
  • Engaging and aesthetically pleasing worship music that points your attention to the presence of God
  • A friendly and grace-filled atmosphere where you feel welcomed and loved the moment you walk through the front doors
  • Opportunities to develop relationships with the church members throughout the week, such as small group Bible studies
  • Fellowship meals (I cannot stress this enough!)
I can honestly say I was blessed to worship Jesus at New Life Community Church, Henry, IL since August this year, because that church family exemplifies all of the above characteristics. Sadly, I will not be able to worship there on Sundays on a consistent basis anymore.

Of course, NLCC is not a perfect church, because no church is perfect. If you are looking for a perfect church, you are going to hop from place to place until Jesus returns. But you do have to ask two central questions before you commit to a church:
Do the worshipers love Jesus with both words and good works?
Do the worshipers genuinely love each other?
(See Matthew 22:36-38).

For New Life Community Church in Henry, IL, the answer to both of those questions is yes. For my friends in the area who need to connect with a church, I strongly recommend New Life. Visit www.newlifeinjesus.com for more information.

I want to thank all the members of my spiritual family in that church for their love and kindness to me these past few months. You are faithful and good representatives of our Lord Jesus and you inspire me to pursue Christ-likeness for myself. I love you guys, and God willing I will visit you in the future.

Peace in Christ,
Tom

  1. Tom,
Thank you! That is very sweet! Those are many reasons why I love the church as well, and it truly is a family to me. Pastor Tom's preaching has always been informative and nice to hear, and it still is too bad I missed yours! Hopefully you can join us again! You seemed to have made yourself at home at New Life!
