What's So Special About Christmas?

There are three types of people:

  • Those who say "Merry Christmas"
  • Those who say "Happy Holidays"
  • And those who don't care how you greet

Can you guess which one I am? I'll give you a hint:

One person esteems one day as better than another, while another esteems all days alike. Each one should be fully convinced in his own mind.
Romans 14:5 ESV

If you guessed the third one, then you are correct.

Now, don't get me wrong. I'm all for putting "Christ" in Christmas. I love a good candlelight church service. I like singing Christmas carols that have especially spiritual themes (O Holy Night is my favorite).

But I'm not the type of person who will punch you in the face if you say "Happy Holidays" instead of "Merry CHRISTmas!" Believe me, I know people who will.

The truth is, Christmas is important. But so is every other day in the year. Jesus Christ should be just as honored and glorified the day after Christmas as He is on Christmas. So don't judge someone based on whether they have a manger scene in their front lawn or not.
